THE PROJECT

The design of Sheikh Zayed Mosque reflects the local traditional architecture in it overall planning through the use of colour and geometry in addition to Islamic patterns to reveal the richness of Islamic cultural heritage.

The Mosque is designed in a rectangular shape consisting of three levels, ground floor, mezzanine floor and basement, where it includes Mo’athen and Imam Residences along with a garden, a large court (Sahn) with an arcade wrapped around it, in addition to a fountain in the centre of the court that gives spiritual and tranquillity feeling. It also includes the main men prayer hall, women prayer hall, an extended prayer hall, as well as ablutions’ areas and a library.
