About
THE PROJECT

The location for the extension of the Bank is behind the existing building on Abdel Rahim Al Waked Street – a secondary road. The existing building was supposed to become an important element of the new Headquarters composition, as seen from Queen Nour Street- Main Street. The structure of the new extension was straightforward concrete frame with perimeter columns, allowing for a flexible office layout and an efficient structural system. At the end of each of the office floors small atria exist, social spaces, which should become focal points for each of the departments within the organization.

The facades of the new extension was designed to provide as much daylight to the workspaces as possible, while shading against harsh sunlight. The passage behind the existing building designed to connect straight into a new underground facility under the extension with 5 levels of parking, as well as a drop off and some of the subsidiary functions of the complex. Furthermore, the basements also designed to provide storage space and room for the new mechanical systems. The first two floors of the extension were rotated to connect the Bank’s new entrance to the existing building and create a separate pavilion for the branch bank to bring about a landscaped pedestrian link between the two streets
