THE PROJECT
The project consists of a series of buildings set within extensive landscaping and parking areas, and takes possible future expansion into consideration. The three main blocks accommodate the three major departments of the ministry, which are: the Labor Department (8,000 m2), the Social Affairs Department (7,000 m2) and the Social Insurance Department (4,500 m2). This multi-storey complex includes the ministry offices along with parking areas, to accommodate about 1,400 employees, in addition to a restaurant, a multi-purpose hall and a mosque. The architectural character is based on local traditions of courtyards and is inspired by Najdi architectural heritage expressed in a contemporary language.
